Professional Overview & Objectives

The Pesticide Management Education Program (PMEP), in concert with other extension specialists and educators, provides educational and training programs to address pesticide issues related to human health, the environment and pesticide safety. To accomplish these goals and objectives, Mr. Smith and program staff work closely with other CALS programs, Cornell faculty/staff, Cooperative Extension Educators, state and federal agencies, state agricultural associations, regulated entities, the chemical industry and the public. Primary objectives include promoting the use of safe, environmentally sound pesticide practices and working closely with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York State Department of Health for the development, implementation, and maintenance of a pesticide information network and a pesticide sales and use reporting database and related databases.
