Abstract
A growing number of studies show that plant genetic diversity can affect populations, communities, and ecosystem properties. I am attempting to identify key bottom-up mechanisms that shape community structure in variable genetic environments, and in what ecological situations genetic diversity is likely to impact communities. Also, given the strikingly parallel effects of species diversity and genetic diversity in communities, I am attempting to identify the relative importance of these types of diversity on community structure, what (if any) interactions occur, and when interactions are most likely to occur.
