Mission Statement
The Department of Entomology (Ithaca) will:
1) Pursue studies to understand basic and applied aspects of insect biology. A major goal is to develop and implement sustainable management and stewardship strategies that support stakeholders at the state, national and international level.
2) Provide a robust and modern curriculum, and a preeminent undergraduate and graduate program which prepares the next generation of scientists that are well equipped to address current and future research, education and policy issues.
3) Inform and educate the public about the issues related to insects and other arthropods.
2007 ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching
Linda Rayor has been named the 2007 recipient of the ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching (Eastern Branch). Congratulations Linda on this well deserved reward!!!
Welcome Dr. Angela Douglas
We are extremely pleased to announce that Professor Angela Douglas has accepted the position of Sarkaria Professor of Insect Physiology and Toxicology. She will be starting August 1, 2008.
Entomological Society of America Awards
Congratulations to our graduate students Ronda Hamm and Sarah Arnold, for their 1st and 3rd place awards for oral presentation at the Eastern Branch Entomological Society of America meeting!
