| NEW YORK GROWING DEGREE-DAY TRACKER |
Welcome to the New York growing degree-day tracker! The table below shows (unofficial) degree-day accumulations for selected cities around the state; if you are not close to one of the cities listed, you may be able to estimate your degree-day accumulations by interpolating between the closest cities shown on the map below. The tracker will be updated on Mondays and Thursdays in the early and late parts of the growing season, and three days per week when things really start hopping in April and May. We hope to update the Tracker by noon, preferably earlier. Click here for an explanation of growing degree-days.
ALERT! The web site that has served as the source of temperature data for the GDD Tracker for the past 7 years has been revised, and no longer has data available for all 22 stations in NY. It may be impossible for the Tracker to continue its noble quest, that is, to provide you with a concise presentation of frequently updated GDD information for NY. The Tracker will be investigating other options, but for the time being, updated GDD data will, unfortunately, not be found here. If you need GDD data, you might want to try Fore Cast, a site jointly operated by the Cornell Turf Team and Atmospheric Sciences. The site features a map displaying GDDs in a graphical format (no actual numbers are displayed, but the map provides a higher resolution of GDDs for New York State and the Northeast).
