Growing Degree-Day Comparisons: April 2000 vs. 2001
As you can see in the table below, seasonal growing degree-day accumulations through the end of April were higher in virtually every location throughout New York State in 2001 compared to 2000. The difference ranged from a low of 0 GDD in New York City to a high of 51 GDD in Ithaca, and averaged 24 GDD. The bottom line is that development of plants and insects should be proceeding at a faster rate, overall, than last year.
