| Adult H. ligniperda | Current distribution in New York |
This small bark beetle, first detected in the Rochester area in 1994, now seems to have a firm foothold and will probably continue to spread. Although it feeds mostly on dead or dying trees, it can infest stressed trees, which can then become infested by pathogenic fungi vectored by the beetle. For additional information, click here.
