Physical description: Harewell speedwell has a low, prostrate growth. It spreads indefinitely, and the flower stems can reach 8 in. tall. The semievergreen dark green leaves are opposite, and reach 1 ½ in. in length. Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer, and the flowers, which are bright blue to dark blue, reach 1/3 in. across and are quite attractive

Optimal growing conditions: Harewell speedwell performs in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soils. In good conditions, the rate of growth is moderate to rapid. Winter hardiness: Zones 4-8.

Susceptibility to pests and diseases: Downy mildew and leaf spot are mentioned for this species, but are not a serious problem. There are no serious insect pests.

Use: The prostrate habit is the most valuable attribute of this species, and is very appreciated in borders or ground covers.
