Comparative competitiveness of groundcovers

Many of the groundcovers featured in this web site have been evaluated in the field for their ability to compete with other and exclude other plants. Field trials were conducted in Ithaca, NY (in the Finger Lakes region) and Riverhead, NY (eastern Long Island). In addition, other growth characteristics of the plants were rated and have been summarized in the tables below. The plant species were categorized by their competitiveness, and appear in the table with other species with similar competitiveness. The tables are large and are not easily printed. Click here for a printable version (pdf) of these tables.
