Physical description: Japanese anemone have saucer-shaped, semi-double
flowers that are about 2 to 4 inches in diameter. The flower
is either frosty white or rosy pink, with a silky sheen on the
backside of the sepals. The leaflets usually have 3 lobes. The
foliage is glossy and brilliant.
Optimal growing conditions: Partial shade is the better than full sun, but
Japanese anemone will thrive in full sun if the soil is kept
moist. Fertile, moist, humus-rich and well-drained soil is the
best for Japanese anemone. It will grow well in most areas other
than the hottest and driest regions of USA, and will perform
poorly in strong wind or in winter weather if the soil is too
wet.
Susceptibility to pests and diseases: Generally, this plant is free from pest or disease
problems.
Use:
Japanese anemone is an excellent plant if combined with other
perennials in the border, or in front of shrubs or under high-branching
trees.
