Araneae

Araneae. The bulk of Cornell's spider collection (including some other miscellaneous non-insectan arthropods) has been on loan to the American Museum of Natural History (New York) since 1958. The collection consists of 16,401 vials of spiders, 1844 vials of phalangids, and 305 vials of miscellaneous orders. The spiders represented in the collection were collected and amassed vastly by J.H. Comstock and C.R. Crosby. The collection is especially well represented for North America and Europe. In addition, the collection contains primary and secondary types representing over 50 species of spiders, most described by Crosby and Bishop (Search types).
